Ben Davis plays Papageno. Ben was born on 15 July 1975 in Ames, Iowa and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana USA.
"I am from Indiana which is a state that loves basketball. I have seen the movie Hoosiers (it's about a basketball team from a small secondary school that wins the championship) hundreds of times!"
Ben didn't always work as an actor - he attended Butler University and worked at a brokerage firm after leaving school.
"This is the first time I have done The Magic Flute anywhere. I have only done two operas ever, La Boheme and this. Probably two of the best operas one could ever do!" Impressively, Ben won a Tony award for his first operatic role as Marcello in 'La Boheme'.
Ben has played Feuilly and Enjolras in Les Miserables - he was in the show for 4 years.
Ben describes Papageno as flawed, sincere and lonely.
Ben on love at first sight: "I believe that our heart knows when it has found its mate almost instantly. It's usually our heads or some other part that messes things up from there!"
Ben's vices - "I am sort of a video game addict! It's horrible... the worst part is I haven't even finished a lot of the games I have! That and chocolate... LOVE chocolate!"
"I love that I am doing the one thing I love to do as a profession. That I get to find out a little bit more about myself with each different role I play, that I get to sing amazing music and that I get to work with people whose creative genius constantly floors me."
When he was growing up, Ben wanted to be an architect and still loves looking at buildings and homes. He sometimes envies his little brother who has grown up to be a landscape architect.
Ben vomited doing the spinning scene in the Papageno/Papagena duet!
